Pollution Prevention |
All NJARNG facilities must comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws. Regulators must be permitted to enter and inspect each facility as necessary as a part of the adherence procedure. Examples of statutes that facilities must be in compliance for include Air Emissions Surveys, PCB Containing Light Ballast, Hazardous Waste Management, and Pest Management. Any facility that is found to be out of compliance in any way will be subject to large fines.

NJARNG sites ensure a clean and safe environment for the surrounding community and their staff members while also reducing future liability for waste disposal. The three Pollution Prevention (P2) strategies ARNG sites focus on for success in Pollution Prevention are, Reduction, Recycling and Affirmative Procurement. These strategies are major combative techniques to prevent pollution. Examples of ways in which NJARNG sites combat pollution include Ozone Depleting Chemical Surveys, Spill Plans, Hazmat Control and Underground Storage Tank Removal.
RestorationThe restoration and remediation of contaminated waste sites remove the risk to human health or the environment. NJARNG facilities must conform to all applicable Federal, State, Local and Department of Defense (DOD) requirements for the cleanup of contamination on Army installations and formerly used defense sites (FUDS). Waste sites include pollution from contaminants such as petroleum, oil, lubricants (POC), DOD - unique materials, Hazardous Waste, low-level radioactive materials and low-level radioactive wastes. Aspects of restoration at these sites include wastewater management, asbestos management and water quality management.
